Exquisite food, sublime surroundings and a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere make a visit to the Shippon restaurant a must for anyone looking for a wonderfully unique dining or drinking experience.

The History

‘Shippon’ is a northern England term for what may more commonly be referred to as a cow shed. The building in which the Shippon restaurant is situated was originally the cowshed building of the Plassey model dairy, which was built in 1902 by a renowned Wrexham horse auctioneer, Frank Lloyd.

The cowshed would house the cows over the winter months, where they would be chained within the stalls and milked by hand.

The rich history of the building can still be seen in the details, from the locally sourced glazed brick to the beautifully ornate oil lamps which still adorn the walls.
